Her Story

Tenley Westbrook is a singer, songwriter, worship leader and speaker who has shared her gifts and talents for many years.  She started playing the piano at age seven and singing in her teens- though her mom would tell you that she came into the world singing!  Tenley went on to receive a degree in Music Education from the University of Massachusetts. She has performed at churches, Christian seminars, concerts, festivals, coffee houses and at various military locations in New Hampshire and throughout the USA.  It is her passion to help others find hope, peace, and purpose in Christ through her story and her music.

Her Music

In 2008, after a series of difficult personal losses including that of her (former) husband, Tenley released her debut CD, “I Believe.”  This album, produced and co-written with John Paul, received excellent reviews and is a collection of songs that reflects her love of God and the faith instilled in her since she became a believer. “I Believe” features musicians Ray Greene, Dave Ayotte, Christina Bowie, and John Paul, whose excellent vocal performances contribute greatly to its creativity and appeal.

In 2009, she drew upon her roots as the daughter of a man who served over twenty years in the U.S. Army.  It inspired her along with producer John Paul, to write “Our Freedom Song,” a tribute to the troops, the veterans, and their families.  Then in 2010, the official music video, produced by Joe Sommers, was released.  Since the song’s release, Tenley has donated thousands of “Our Freedom Song” CDs to members of our military and Gold Star Families through FreedomSong Foundation, the non-profit organization she founded to honor these selfless Americans through music, concerts, and events.

Tenley has begun working with producer and musician Drew Yount on a CD project which will include original worship songs and familiar hymns performed in her unique, soulful style. The first single, “Come,” which features her bluesy, powerful vocals and an outstanding guitar solo by Mitchell Decker, is available here.  The official video for the song “Come” is in production and will be released soon.

I have had the privilege of knowing Tenley for many years. She has strong vocal and musical ability coupled with a unique ability to connect with people, allowing them to participate in her music on a deeper level. Her enthusiasm for life, and Jesus are contagious. Her talent is only matched by her character. I can sum up my words simply: Tenley Westbrook is a ten-talent person.

On behalf of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund, I am happy to recommend Tenley Westbrook.  She has an excellent voice and is a real crowd pleaser.  She sang for us in the 2011 Memorial Day Observance at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.  She had a high level of professionalism, enthusiasm, talent and rapport.  Her tribute “Our Freedom Song” is touching for all veterans to hear.

I am happy to encourage other Military Officials and Directors of National/State Parks, Memorials, and Cemeteries to invite Tenley to perform for their official events.

I have known Tenley for years and have attended many of her musical and speaking programs. In all she does, Tenley glorifies God not herself. She offers her singing and piano playing gift up to Jesus Christ and He leads her audience in worship because she is worshipping Him herself. Her program, “Say YES! to God” is a reflection of Tenley’s heart to lead others into worship, obedience, faith, and personal trust in our living God. I grew deeper in my relationship to Christ as a result of attending “Say YES!” at Bethany Church and I know I can speak the same for all of us there.
